Merry Christmas 2008

We had a really great Christmas. It was fun for Dawson since he could really grasp the concept of Santa this year. We spent the night at Billy's parents house on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning the kids woke up at 8 am, but couldn't come downstairs until 9:00 when everyone was there. It was an hour of torture for them. They finally came down and opened all of their Santa gifts, then it was time to open gifts from Billy's parents. Billy's mom is a genius when it comes to gift wrapping. She doesn't put name tags on any gifts. She uses a different ribbon for each person's gifts, and she doesn't tell you what ribbon is yours until Christmas morning. That way the kids don't peek or try to guess what is in their boxes. I am for sure going to do that in the future! Billy's family has a tradition of opening gifts one at a time and in birth order. After 2 hours and only making it through 2 rounds of gifts, they decided that everyone could just open all of their gifts. We all got incredibly spoiled. Bill and Roselle are always extremely generous. After gifts, we had a nice breakfast and just hung out during the day. One of the best parts of the day was getting to talk to Shelby and Shane on the phone. They are both on missions and it was so good to hear their voices.
